“Sanskrit died, as it was the divine language" - the exposition of Communist Comrade T. Pandian ! ! ! Yesterday, I was surprise to see this guy sitting with others at the Marina Campus hall at the concluding function:
So like K. Viramani, he also gets accommodated in Univesity functions to talk whatever one wants. And it is the fate of our students to listern to these unhistorical blabbering and grow competing with others. Of course, the govt. would go on give reservation so that they are not worried. This T. Pandian should have some sense or done some home work, before talking nonsense from the pedestal of Madras University. It is a shame for the University to accommodate the crooks like him and allow them to talk nonsense. In the same building there is a Sanskrit department and there students are studying and doing M. Phil, Ph.D etc. Already, the department has produced many scholars. How did they study? How they got degrees? There is a poet, Panambaranar, who has written a commentary on Tolkappiyam. in Payiram, he says, “Vadanul unartharkku anri Tamizh eyalbu vilangathu“. Why this learned gentleman does not know this? Or he is above the commentator? There were students listening to this nonsense-talk. How they bear and get away with such meaningless talk. Has he read the work and commentary at least once? Anyway, long live Tamil, sorry Tamizh |

Although it is difficult to digest, it is a fact that Sanskrit is an Extinct Language. It is wrong to call it as a Divine language or Deva Basha. If it had been so then it would have been in use. Even the Kings of North India have discarded it because of the difficulty in using it. A language will be accepted by the masses only by its simplicity in its usage. What is the use if the nuances of a language is known only to a few.

It is a pity that guys in India are talking ill of Sanskrit, while the Europeans are doing research on the same language and concluding that it is the best language for not only human communication but also machine (computer) communications.
Even though it looks as though dead in minds of blind Pandian & others, they will realize its glory only when it makes a re-entry from Europe / USA. When P closes his eyes and thinks that the world does not exist, what can one think of the person, other than a fool !

I am not againist Sanskirit…To me, it is langauge used by Aryans for communication. To call it a divine language is foolishness.
If you want to save a language, you had do so..but calling it a divine language is sign of ignorance… No langugae is holy –whether it is Tamil, Sanskirit, Hebrew, Arabic, Greek or Latin.
What Pandian told is correct..extinction of Sanskirit is due to divinity ascribed to it…Again I do not mind to support the revival of sanskirit langauge but I am sure it is not a divine langauge…It is another language like tamil or Arabic.

# No it is alive and spoken by many. Just go to the Sanskrit department in the same Marina Campus, as pinted out, you can talk with them in Sanskrit.
It is wrong to call it as a Divine language or Deva Basha. If it had been so then it would have been in use.
# It is in use only. As somewhere discussed, every group considers one language as divine. But that does not kill the language, as wrongly one thinks.
Even the Kings of North India have discarded it because of the difficulty in using it.
# I want proof for this, as D. C. Sircar and other publisherd books on “Sanskrit Inscriptions”.
A language will be accepted by the masses only by its simplicity in its usage.
# It was simple only, when it was used before the Mohammjedabns onslaught. Just answer the question, how the Saints / sages like Sankaradeva from Assam, Chaitanya from Bengal, Vallabacharya from UP and others came to Kanykumari, Sri Rangam and Tiruvananthapuram, how they would have talked with the people meeting at diferent places?
What is the use if the nuances of a language is known only to a few.
# Yes, now the situation is like this. So without bias and prejudice, all should learn and use that language to understand the truth

t…To me, it is langauge used by Aryans for communication.
# What is the proof. Historians have already discarded AIT.
To call it a divine language is foolishness.
#Read above
… No langugae is holy –whether it is Tamil, Sanskirit, Hebrew, Arabic, Greek or Latin.
# see above.
Again I do not mind to support the revival of sanskirit langauge but I am sure it is not a divine langauge…
#There is no necessity to revive. There are Universities, where it is taught. The problem is in India people like you, the Pandian and other categories.

I am not talking abour AIT…I am just saying Aryan’s language is Sanskirit. Dravidians did not speak Sanskirit.
Great to know Sanksirit is still taught…
I think the problem is india is people like you who do not know what someone is telling.

No. “Aryan’s language” is not Sanskrit.
As pointed out in other entry (T. Pandian’s blabbering on Sanskrit), Sanskrit was there in the Tamizhagam and Tolkappiyam has defined about its usage.
If it was not used by the people here, why Tolkappiyarr should give rules?
Then, the people who used Sanskrit were “Aryans” or “Dravidians”?
You say, “Great to know Sanksirit is still taught…”, and this shows what? This is just pretending. About Asko Parpola’s learning Vedas, some remarks were made. Even, it was challenged why he was not punished as prescribed under Manu.
So do not say, “I think the problem is india is people like you who do not know what someone is telling”, and it is rightly applicable to people like you. You just make one or two line postings and disappear.

Pandian does not know what he is talking about. So does tamil language not talk about religion, gods etc. First of all, tholkappiar who wrote the first grammar was a student of Agathiyar whom all these people will consider aryans. This means it is the same aryans who gave a script form to our language tamil. And this guy is talking about tamil valarchi etc Sanskrit is a forgotten language in India but not because religious texts was written in it.

Sanskirit, during the course of history, stopped to be language of common people. Moreover priests want to put a divine aura on it. As Latin is forgotten, sanskirit is also forgotten for the same reason.

‘Karuna’
‘nidhi’
‘Surya’
‘Jaya’
‘Lalitha’
‘Doss’
‘Mani’
‘Kamal’
‘Nayan’,
…
etc
etc
list of Sanskrit names/words in vogue even today, and will be so in future also.
Now, who claims that the language is dead ??
If you close your eyes, the whole world is in darkness !!

Those who talk about Aryan-Dravidian myth should clear about their doubts before discussing.
They may read “Ariyar in the Ancient Tamil Literature”, “Dravidian problem” etc., appearing in different sites / forums.
Latin is not talked by all people, Sanskrist has ceased to become a common language etc., does not hold water.
Languages are created and syuch languages propagated by political purposes disappear and die. Take the case of Pali language. I would not say, it has died, but it has ceased to become a common language, as historians used to claim that it was a common language of Indians and so on.
As pointed out by Ezhavendan, Sanskrit was lingua france in India, till the Mohammedans invaded and destroyed the templs, Colleges, mutts and other places, burned valuable books etc.
Hundreds of Universities teach Sanskrit in the world.
In India, anskrit can be learnt through correspondence also: contact http://www.sanskrit.nic.in/
